We recently took a trip to Chicago for a Business Marketing Association (BMA) Global B2B Conference! A networking event was held at the Museum of Broadcast Communications. One of the exhibits focused on “Advertising stars that have become part of the American pop cultural phenomenon.” Think about those characters that you grew up seeing and associating with a particular brand- believe it or not, they are some of the most recognized faces in the world!
These characters have appeared in print ads, TV commercials, product merchandise, consumer promotions for generations! They truly have become synonymous with the brands they represent.
A fun tidbit: all of these characters were created or developed in Chicago!
Yes, we have grown to know and love them, but more importantly- for the brands, they have been a MAJOR force in marketing some of the world’s top-selling consumer products.
The exhibition that we walked through examined these characters’ creation and evolution through the various generations! I bet you will find these brand timelines a refreshing flashback and eye-opener!
